Four American Battle Monuments Commission sites take part in Le Printemps des Cimetières

ARLINGTON, Va. (May 13, 2022) — Between May 20, 2022 and May 22, 2022, the American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC) participates in the 7th edition of a national event dedicated to highlighting cemeteries in France, Le Printemps des Cimetières. 

This year, Le Printemps des Cimetière is held at four of our sites: Lafayette Escadrille Memorial Cemetery (LEMC), Lorraine American Cemetery (LOAC), Normandy American Cemetery (NOAC) and St. Mihiel American Cemetery (SMAC). The event’s theme is “war memoirs at cemeteries” and it focuses on military cemeteries heritage. 

For Le Printemps des Cimetières, LEMC, LOAC, NOAC and SMAC offer activities that enable the public to learn more about ABMC, the two World Wars, the history of the sites as well as stories of service men and women buried within their grounds. 

“We are thrilled to be part of Le Printemps des Cimetières. It is a great opportunity for ABMC to enable the public to rediscover some of its sites in France,” says Karen Wurzburger, Visitor Services & Interpretation Director at ABMC. “It is a wonderful tool to reach families and the younger generation to pass on the stories of our brave service members and to ensure that Gen. John J. Pershing’s promise that “Time Will not Dim the Glory of their Deeds” lives on,” she adds.
